My husband and I started into Boxers shortly after we got married in Southern California in 1970, with our first Boxer being a non-papered white female. Shortly after acquiring her, we bought our first AKC (American Kennel Club) papered female Boxer. She was 10 mos old and her name was Bandit, she became the foundation of Riverlane Boxers.
By this time we were so in love with this special breed. We were eager to learn everything we could. We read every book we could get our hands on. We were lucky enough to meet many people that were actively showing, and with their guidance we decided to breed Bandit. Bea Stacy of Cherokee Oaks fame, became one of our mentors and we bred to a stud of hers, Ch. Warlord of Cherokee Oak's. This led to a long relationship with Bea and many others along the way.
We kept a plain female (Classic Fawn) from that litter, "Bit O'Ban's" Orphan Annie. Everything out of our first bitch, we named "Bit O'Ban's" Boxers, because everything we produced had a little "Bit of Bandit" in it.
We started showing a couple of our "Bit O'Ban" bitches in the 1980's in Conformation and Obedience, completing CD (Companion Dog) titles on both of them and conformation points on one. From this point we bred and started showing "Riverlane Boxers".
We believe in health testing all of our Boxers before breeding. They are cleared of SAS/AS by a board certified cardiologist, a 24 hour holter, and Thyroid testing. We believe in the health and temperment of the breed first. We breed to the standard, so it doesn't hurt if they look good as well.
We hit a lull in showing our Boxers in the mid to late 1990's after finishing Championships on two of our Boxers. I went back to work and my 50 hour a week schedule was not condusive to the show ring.
Three years ago, we made the big move from Southern California to Oregon for a more laid back life style. We now live on 19 acres with our horses and our Dogs.
We are in the process of starting out again on this wonderful adventure, with our two young ones from a litter before we left California. We plan on breeding our young girl in hopes of getting a nice youngster we can show...... Update please see our Nursery page.
We wish to thank a new friend here in Idaho, Lainee Rupp, We-R Boxers who was kind enough, to design and create this beautiful website for us. We are so appreciative of her time, patience and expertise. Here's hoping to a lasting relationship with her, meeting new breeders, friends and rekindling past relationships as well.
Here's to a new chapter..................
